Lakewood High School - 2025-2026 Programming

Here is the timeline and process for current 9th -11th graders selecting courses for next year:

  • It is important for students to make informed decisions about the classes they choose.  They are committing to these classes for a year.  The next few weeks will be a time for students to learn more about the classes LHS offers. Click here for the LHS 2025-2026 Course Offering List. Please click here for the LBUSD High School Course Catalog. You will find descriptions of LBUSD courses, recommendations, and prerequisites. Speak with your teachers and current students to learn about their courses and experiences.
  • Pathway Counselor Classroom Presentations - From February 24th - March 5th, School Counselors will be reviewing graduation, A-G, and NCAA requirements and explain the course selection process in pathway classrooms. Click here for the presentation.
  • Students complete Google Form for Course Requests after Presentations -  Click here for the Google Form link. The form will close on March 14th. We encourage families to discuss course requests and goals with their students and complete the form together. Please note students must complete the form using their LBUSD email. Your requests play a significant role in determining LHS’ 25-26 master schedule including staffing, courses offered and the number of sections of each course offered.  You are committing to these courses for the entire 2025-2026 school year.  Please put careful thought into your decisions.
  • Individual Student Meetings with their School Counselor -  Counselors will meet with each student individually in their pathway classrooms to review transcripts and revise their course selection to ensure they are meeting graduation and A-G requirements.  They will also make recommendations for summer school when needed and discuss post-secondary plans. Please note counselors will have limited availability during this time due to these individual meetings and supervision.
  • NEW! Families review course selection. March 24-26, 2025 - Families will have the opportunity to view their students' course requests for the 25-26 school year in Parent Vue.  This is the window to make any necessary adjustments by emailing your students' counselor by Wednesday-March 26th at 4:00pm. After this date, all course requests are final.

**There will be only two opportunities for course request CORRECTIONS: one on registration day and one day by grade level during the first 5 days of school.  We will not be accepting schedule change requests by email, phone, or Google Form.

We will only address the following issues:

  • Appropriate requests include:
    • Incorrect level for required class (e.g. Geometry instead of Algebra 1)
    • Completion of Dual Enrollment course over the summer/enrollment in Dual Enrollment Course
    • Hole in the schedule (e.g. missing a 3rd period)
    • Missing a graduation requirement (e.g. no English or PE)
    • Missing 8 periods in your schedule
  • Inappropriate requests include:
    • Students requesting to drop AP or accelerated courses for college prep course offerings
    • Students requesting to change their unscheduled period
    • Students changing their minds, requesting to change or drop a subject or elective course
    • Students requesting to take classes a specific class period
    • Students requesting a teacher change

We look forward to working with you and are planning for a prosperous 2025-2026 school year!
